How to Find the Right Interior Designer

How to Find the Right Interior Designer

A Checklist for Success

Remodeling spaces to reflect who we are and what we want is not always as easy as repainting
the walls. With so many styles, colours, and design options available it can sometimes get
overwhelming trying to figure it out on your own. Whether it is a space you live or work in, interior
designers are there to transform your ideas into designs that reflect your personality and taste.
With years of experience in the field, we’re here to give you an inside scoop on how to find a
designer that’s right for you. Use this checklist to get started!

What’s your style?

Take some time to explore different styles and decide on which one best reflects your vision. Save photos of aesthetic elements that you like to show your designer the direction you’d like to explore.

Do your research

There are two ways you can go about this: rely on word-of-mouth or hop on the internet. We suggest doing a quick google search to find professional interior designers in your area. Take a look at their credentials, reviews, and portfolio before you reach out to arrange a meeting.

Get to know each other

Scheduling an in-person meeting allows you to determine if you two are a good fit. Like going on a good date, talking to your interior designer should feel natural. Interior designers should listen to your ideas and take initiative by suggesting creative solutions that fit your style, budget and timeline.

Compare different proposals

Always take the time to reach out to several interior designers to get an understanding of different working styles and artistic visions. Talking to three professionals will allow you to explore your options and choose a designer that understands you and your aesthetic preferences.

Sign a contract

Signing a contract sets clear terms and provides you and the interior designer protection if something were to go wrong. Some common clauses include things such as project scope, budget, timeline, payment and termination.
