Interior Design Rental Apartment

Increase rental rates or market value. The trick is to establish a timeless look with your rental property renovations.

The Introduction

Meeting clients in a relaxed environment eases any initial tension.  My clients, a middle aged married couple, explained that they purchased an 85 square metre apartment as a rental investment . They contacted me to help them with it’s interior design.

We looked over the plan and started bouncing off  interior design ideas.  As we parted, I promised to send them my  proposal within 24 hours.

Interior Design Services

Interior design services requested by the couple were : electrical layouts, furniture and space planning, colour schemes, sample boards and last but not least, photo like visuals of the apartment.  Bearing all this in mind I sent off my proposal. They accepted it hence works at the drawing board commenced.

Furniture and Space Planning

Furniture and space planning were first on the agenda. Upon approval, works on the electrical layouts started. Therefore, the respective contractors could be given the schematic drawings to follow.

A small island in the kitchen was part of my interior design plan. This would create additional work space and seating.

Clients are asked to fill in a questionnaire which helps me determine their style and expectations. Certain elements must be considered when designing peoples interiors. Clients need help putting their ideas together in the best possible way.

The couple were very clear in their response to my questionnaire.

Avoiding clutter, heavy curtains and busy patterns were to be given priority.  Besides that, they were very keen on Scandinavian design.  Sheer curtains and the use of greys, and different hues of blue were also requested.

Mood Boards

  • Kitchen

Mood board content was researched and put together. The kitchen cabinetry could be a mixture of oak, grey and white hence keeping the style simple and easy to clean moreover allowing as much storage space as possible and avoiding unnecessary clutter.

  • Dining and Living Spaces

The dining table and chairs could be purchased to meet with Scandinavian design. Matching this look, we introduced a sofa in grey fabric and a grey and oak streamlined tv unit.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom could be a mixture of yellow, blue and grey combined with oak furniture.

They were thrilled with the interior design ideas I portrayed on the mood boards consequently from then on it was all FUN !!

Work in Progress

A few images below show the work in progress..

A small house or apartment will feel so much bigger if you have the same flooring in every room, therefore we chose a grey floor tile and laid it throughout.

A gypsum false ceiling was created into which we fitted recessed lights.

Pendant lights were chosen for the master bedroom and above the dining table. Additional ambient lighting was created by including three pendants over the kitchen island.

The End Result

Visuals showing our interior design ideas were created. These take a number of hours to compile, most of all, we have to ensure that all the ideas we discussed would be included.

The Conclusion

The end result is a simple yet stylish, hotel inspired, comfy urban living space. Mission accomplished ! In conclusion, the couple and I are over the moon.
