I love the slow pace of August. It is the month of rest and getting refreshed for everything that’s ahead in the fall. Not having a school schedule can sometimes be hard getting back into the swing of things.
Let’s get started and let me give you a few tips that I’ve picked up along the way that can really make coming back from holidays so much easier – I really hope they help!
TIP 1 – DON’T SCHEDULE THINGS FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS BACK
A mountain of stuff to tackle immediately when you come back is the last thing you want to contend with – at least for a day or so.
You want to ease yourself back into normality as much as possible – not feel like you would have been better off not going away…
Use the first few days back to unwind – and not adding extra things to the mix wherever possible.
TIP 2 – RECREATE YOUR FAVOURITE DISH
One of the best things about traveling is getting to try all the amazing foods a country has to offer. There is one meal that remains your favourite and that you’d wish to eat over and over again!
Look up that favourite dish you had whilst traveling and try to recreate it at home. If you went on holiday with other people, why don’t you all cook your own personal favourite dish and have a dinner party.

TIP 3 – DIFFUSING OILS
As I adjust to my new schedule, I have been pumping the house with peaceful diffuser blends.
Diffusing blends of floral and citrus essential oils will help to keep the moods lifted, calm, and peaceful.
Two of my favourite essential oil blends which promote peace:
3 drops lavender
2 drops bergamot
1 drop lemon
2 drops vetiver
2 drops lavender
1 drop sandalwood
1 drop ylang ylang
How many drops of oil in a diffuser?
The amount of essential oils you add to your diffuser really depends on the size of the room you are diffusing in and your personal preference.
As a general rule, large, open rooms such as the living room or kitchen; start with 6-10 drops. In smaller rooms like a study or bedroom, using 4-6 drops of essential oils is recommended. If I’m diffusing in a bathroom, I will usually use 2-3 drops.
If you have pets or children in the house, it is always best to diffuse in larger rooms with open doors.
TIP 4 – GIVE YOURSELF THE WEEKEND OFF
The weekend following your holiday should be as free as possible – again give yourself a break!
It’s tiring to go from relaxing on holiday to back to your daily routine – so having the following weekend free will enable you to regain some of that holiday feel – and relax a little again – before it is too far in the dim and distant past to remember!
