Simple details. Beautiful moments.

There’s something about summer evenings that encourages us to slow down.

A table outdoors. A chilled bottle of wine. Fresh bread waiting to be shared. Good conversation that lasts longer than expected.

I've learnt over the years that beautiful entertaining isn't about buying more things. It's about creating an atmosphere that makes people feel welcome from the moment they arrive.

When I put a table together, I rarely start with the plates or the decorations. Instead, I think about how I want my guests to feel. Relaxed. Comfortable. At home.

For this first edition of Bea's Edit, I wanted to share a few of the simple details I reach for time and time again when entertaining outdoors during our Mediterranean summers.

Start with one beautiful, practical piece

One of my favourite pieces is a ceramic wine cooler.

Of course, it keeps a bottle of wine beautifully chilled throughout dinner, but when it's not entertaining season, the very same piece becomes a vase for fresh flowers, a utensil holder in the kitchen, or simply a decorative object on a shelf.

I love objects that work hard while remaining beautiful.

Keep food simple

Summer food doesn't need to be complicated.

A loaf of fresh bread.

A small bowl of olives.

Good olive oil.

A colourful salad.

These simple ingredients often become the centre of the table because they're designed to be shared.

Bring nature to the table

One of the easiest styling tricks is also the least expensive.

Instead of elaborate centrepieces, I often use olive branches, herbs from the garden or a few fresh flowers gathered that morning.

They instantly soften a table and create that relaxed Mediterranean feeling I love so much.

My favourite tip

If there's one thing I've learnt through years of styling homes and tables, it's this:

People rarely remember exactly what was on the menu.

They remember how they felt.

The laughter.

The conversation.

The atmosphere.

That's what good styling creates.
